REGULATION 2019

CineEco 2019 – 25th Serra da Estrela International Environmental Film Festival, Seia Portugal

October 12th – 19th, 2019

 

1. OBJECTIVE

1.1. The objective of CineEco – Serra da Estrela International Environmental Film Festival is to promote, display and award audiovisual works of fiction, animation, experimental and documentaries, focusing on environmental issues, produced in any part of the world, as well as promoting actions and activities related to the theme.

 

1.2. The Festival intends to promote the natural, ecological, cultural values and also the environmental and tourist promotion of the Serra da Estrela. The theme of the Festival will be essentially the environment, in its most "embracing" design, involving the entire environment.

 

2. ADMISSION

2.1. The competitive sections and the parallel shows of the CineEco'2019 - 25th Serra da Estrela International Environmental Film Festival, will take place in Seia, from October 12th to 19th, 2019, are open to national and international films, documentaries, series and reports for Television . The competitions, fit the following sections:

- Feature Films - International Competition;

- Short Films - International Competition;

- Documentaries, Series and Reports for Television Competition;

- Portuguese Language - Short, Medium and Feature Films Competition;

- Competition Regional Panorama _ Portuguese Language.

 

2.2.All entries must have been made after January 1st, of 2018.

 

3. REGISTRATION AND SELECTION

3.1.The submission of the works to contest should be made online until 15th of May 2019 on:

3.2. In any of the registration forms, the following elements must be inserted:

- Two stills of the film with good quality of resolution (300 px);

- Declaration of authorization to exhibit at the festival and its extensions;

You can also enter:

- Filmography;

- Director's resume and photo;

- Trailler and any other material available for promotion (posters, press kit, etc.)

3.3. CineEco does not pay any fee for movie viewing.

3.4. The official selection will be announced to all the candidates until at least two months before the beginning of the festival and then will be communicated on the website, and in the communication channels of the festival.

3.5. CineEco will only notify selected movies.

3.6. Not submitting the requested materials and their copy formats, may lead to the exclusion of the film from the official selection.

 

4. SUBTITLING

4.1. Films must have a screener subtitled in English (when they are non-English or Portuguese).

4.2. Selected films should have a copy of the subtitles , subtitled in English (if they are non-English).

4.3. Portuguese films spoken in other languages should send a formatted list of subtitles in Portuguese.

 

5. AWARDS

5.1. The following Awards will be awarded:

FEATURE FILMS INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

I – Big Award Environment, worth 2.000€ (two thousand euros) assigned to the play that is considered the best among all the present in the International Competition, that includes Long and Medium-length films (more than 40’)

II- Environmental Anthropology Award, worth €500 (five hundred euros) assigned to the play that (between long and medium-length international films) best deals the theme of environmental anthropology among all the present in the International Competition.

III- Environmental Education Award, worth €500 (Five hundred euros) about the play that (between long and medium-length international films) best deals the didactic-scientific view of the environmental theme.

DOCUMENTARIES & REPORTS FOR TELEVISION COMPETITION

IV- Short Film Award, worth 500€ (Five hundred euros) assigned to the short film that is considered the best short-length film among all the present in the International Competition.

V – Television Award, worth 500€ (Five hundred euros), assigned to the play that is considered the best in the Documentary category, series or TV report among all the present in the International Competition.

COMPETITION OF PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE

VI- Camacho Costa | Portuguese Language, worth €1.000 (one thousand euros) assigned to the play that is considered the best among all the present in the Lusophone Competition (Long, Medium or Short-length films).

VII – Regional Overview Award, worth €500 (Five hundred euros) assigned to a play produced in the Serra da Estrela region that best promotes the local environmental themes.

ALL THE SECTIONS

VIII – Marine Litter Award, in the amount of € 500 (five hundred euros), attributed to the work, among all the competitive sections that best approach, from a didactic-scientific point of view, the theme of marine litter.

XIX - Water Award, worth € 500 (five hundred euros), attributed to the work, among all the competitive sections that best approach, from a didactic-scientific point of view, the Water theme.

X - Youth Award, attributed to the best work of each of the competitive sections that best reflect the interests and environmental concerns of young people.

5.2. If the Judges so wishes , Honorable Mentions may be awarded.

5.3. The prizes awarded in the Competitions, will be accompanied by a 'Campanula' trophy and a diploma.

 

6. THE JURY

6.1. The Jury of the International Competition Feature Films will be constituted by 3 personalities of recognized merit of the cinema and environment, who will award the following prizes: CineEco Big Award, Environmental Education Award and Environmental Anthropology Award.

6.2. The Jury of the International Competition Short Films and Television will be constituted by 3 personalities of recognized merit of the cinema and environment, which will award these two prizes;

6.3. The Jury of the Portuguese Language Film Competition will be constituted by 3 personalities of recognized merit from the cinematographic and regional environmental, who will award the following prizes: the Camacho Costa Award (Long, Medium and Short films) and the Regional Panorama Award.

6.4. The Youth Jury will be constituted, preferably, by a group of young people from the Intermunicipal Community of Beiras and Serra da Estrela area.

6.5. The Juries may decide to award the prizes provided for in this regulation or not.

6.6. The Juries who have a direct interest in the production and/or exploitation of the films submitted to the contest are not allowed.

 

7. THE FINAL PROVISIONS

7.1. CineEco reserves the right to select some of the films registered to be included in the non-competitive parallel sections and the thematic exhibitions outside the competition, included in the general program.

7.2. Each competitor assumes full responsibility for the works that have submited to the contest for all legal purposes, excluding any responsibility of the Serra da Estrela International Environmental Film Festival to third parties.

7.3. CineEco reserves the right to display on the TV, in the cinema or other media, small excerpts of the awarded works, or other materials requested by the media for this purpose.

7.4. CineEco reserves the right to exhibit works competing at the festival, in its exhibitions and extensions, within one year of the festival, in other locations in Portugal, for educational effects and non-profit purposes. Wherever appropriate, CineEco will propose warded works (or other) to exhibition in other similar international events.

7.5. Competitors should respect the present Regulation, accepting all their clauses, as shown by the acceptance of authorization, which appears in the registration form.

7.6. The decisions of the organization, regarding the interpretation and respect of these Regulations, will not be appealed.

7.7. The results of the contest will be announced at the closing ceremonies of the 25th Serra da Estrela International Environmental Film Festival and through the website and other media.

7.8. All matters not provided in this Regulation shall be settled in accordance with the International Rules of the Film Festivals.
