RUMOURS OF THE WORLD: PEOPLE, PLACES, OTHER PERSPECTIVES

10th october to 30th november
Casa Municipal da Cultura de Seia _ Galleries
Opening: 10th october _ saturday _ 5pm

The high number of works, wide range of information and the aesthetic quality of the pro-jects submitted to this year’s Contest (2019) calls for the need to highlight a set of imagens representative of the ample universe of imagery into which “Transversalities - Photography without Borders” has transformed.
By focusing on people and places, the display shines light on the two structural cores in an exhibi-tory discourse that comprises a journey to hidden terrains and natural landscapes and humans spread over the different continents.

HUGO SIMÕES: FINDING A PLACE TO LAND
10th october _ saturday _ 6pm
Casa Municipal da Cultura de Seia _ Auditorium

Finding a Place to Land is a title that intends to reflect the guiding idea of building a single artistic object, a launchpad, where music and images intertwine with multi-disciplinary poetry to raise awareness about the fragilities of the modern world.
In this performance, as contemporary guitar and electronic music plays in the background, images and videos are projected, combined with prearranged effects to fit into the musical discourse, designed to make people think and alert the audience to two key questions in our contemporary world: the climate crisis and the refugee problem.

DEPOIS DA TEMPESTADE _ PEDRO E OS LOBOS
10th october _ saturday _ 9:30pm
Casa Municipal da Cultura de Seia _ Cineteatro

Published on 7 February, it is a disk that portrays the times we are living through and points the roads forward. After the Storm, the time is for togetherness, reconstruction, solidarity, time for us to be more humane and believe that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. This is the message; this is the direction the disk points in.
Drawing musical inspiration from the great American classics, ranging from Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, R.E.M. or Neil Young, this is a disk full of sonorous landscapes that take us on a journey to ample places, speaking of inspiring stories of normal everyday people, who are almost always forgotten.
The heroes in this disk are the people who get up at the crack of dawn to face a life of arduous work in exchange for a miserable salary and who even so dream of a better life for themselves and for everybody. The victories and the defeats, the simple moments that turn into special ones, the friends, lovers and missed meetings, but above all the right to keep dreaming that this can be a better place.
“After the Storm” is a 100% organic disk of musical sharing, created in the garage and played live in the studio.
