Victor Gama’s multimedia solo concert tectonik.Tombwa continues the interrupted research of Angolan anthropologist Augusto Zita N’Gonguenho. In the 1980s, Zita studied the Namib desert, combining science and local divinatory practices, until he disappeared under apartheid-related circumstances. From her notes, Gama has created a work that uses sound and music as tools of historical memory. Performed on the Acrux and Toha instruments, created by the composer, the concert fuses African polyrhythms, electronics and contemporary composition. It has already been performed at Carnegie Hall, the Philharmonie Luxembourg and the Center for the Less Good Idea.
