“Definition of forest” (2024) is a documentary and experimental short film in search of a forest behind the concept. Its unruly voice-overs draw the viewer down conflicting paths, never forming a single, compatible vision or an entire forest.
The film delves into the shared life of humans and forests and suggests peculiar questions with no easy answers: What do we feel in a dark, gloomy forest and what kind of family member can a forest be? How can the organic movement of a dancer connect to a forest? And finally, is there any way to reach the non-human nature of a forest?
The documentary nature of the film is fragmentary, relational and probes the unknown. Instead of recording reality, the film is based on its becoming: reality is what happens in the filming and viewing processes.
