From Seia to Espinho: “Cão Sozinho” adds another distinction and qualifies for the Oscars pre-selection

After winning the Portuguese Language Short and Medium-Length Film Award at CineEco — Serra da Estrela International Environmental Film Festival in Seia, Marta Reis Andrade’s Cão Sozinho (Lonely Dog) has now won the Cinanima Grand Prize in Espinho.

The distinction at Portugal’s most renowned animation festival reinforces the solid trajectory of the work, which stands out for its visual identity and thematic relevance.

The victory at Cinanima guarantees the film a place on the shortlist for the Oscars in the best animated short film category, expanding the international reach of this Portuguese-French production.

The award follows other notable achievements, including competitive selections at leading festivals. This new chapter, coming after its passage through Serra da Estrela, allows us to wish the film’s team continued success on a journey that seems to maintain consistency and growing prominence.
