CineEco – Serra da Estrela International Environmental Film Festival presents a new visual identity and a new website, marking the start of a new phase, in tune with the place that gave birth to it and with the environmental challenges of our time. The change comes in the year in which the festival celebrates 31 uninterrupted editions. CineEco returns to Seia from October 10 to 18.
Inspired by its birthplace, the new image features mountains as a universal symbol of protection and wisdom, evoking mythical figures from folk and Celtic cultures – trees with souls, guardian owls or silent giants. This imagery reflects CineEco itself: a festival that is empathetic, determined, creative and deeply connected to nature.
CineEco’s new image reappears with the manifesto “We are the spirit of the mountain”. “The wind that whistles through the trees. The ancestral guardian of the natural balance that protects rivers, trees and animals. We are man and animal. We are nature itself ” says the organization. This manifesto “is represented in what we have always been, now with a new face, strengthened energies and eyes on the future,” he adds.
The new logo and the entire universe that accompanies it: the colors, pattern and textures, as well as the figure evoking the spirit of the forest, reflects the fusion between folk tradition, nature and a subtle visual language associated with cinema, with a robust and determined typology of geometric shapes: the “play” symbol incorporated into the letter “n”, while the remaining letters evoke ecology and folk essence.

Since 1995, CineEco has been held in the city of Seia, in the heart of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, and is today one of the oldest and most recognized environmental film festivals in Europe. In a geography that could have been seen as a disadvantage, the festival has found strength: its interior location has given it character, authenticity and a sense of mission. This has given rise to a brand that combines territory and internationalization, as evidenced by the hundreds of films entered every year and the growing presence of CineEco’s extensions throughout the country and autonomous regions – bringing the best of environmental cinema to audiences all over the country.
The new official website – at the same address www.cineeco.pt – reflects this evolution: modern, intuitive and inclusive, designed to bring audiences, filmmakers and partners closer together, expanding the festival’s cultural, environmental and human impact.

About CineEco
CineEco is one of the oldest environmental film festivals in the world. Since its inception, the Festival has not been confined by physical or cultural borders. Held in Seia, a town in the interior of a still asymmetrical country, it is promoted by a local public authority which, together with its people, has embraced the environmental theme uninterruptedly for 31 years, remaining faithful to its values and principles. CineEco is a founding member and on the board of the Green Film Network, a platform of 40 environmental film festivals.
It is organized by the Municipality of Seia and has the high patronage of the President of the Republic and the United Nations Department of the Environment.
