“From script to editing: sustainable production in action”

The workshop raises awareness and empowers film professionals, the CineEco community and the local population to adopt more sustain able practices in the audiovisual sector, focusing on green production and providing participants with concrete tools and plans to integrate sustainability into every stage of their future projects.

Rita Lacerda holds a degree in Social and Cultural Communication from the Portuguese Catholic University and has worked in communications across academic, institutional, corporate, cultural, and artistic fields. With several years of experience in the production of advertising, feature films, short films, television series, and documentaries, she got a degree in Sustainable Audiovisual Production Management at the Lusófona University, in partnership with Stuttgart Media University and the Portugal Film Commission.
She currently works in audiovisual consultancy at Légua and serves as a Green Consultant (sustainability consultant) for film, television and advertising, collaborating with several production companies to implement more sustainable practices. She is Vice-President of the Green Consultants Portugal Association and has spoken at numerous national and international events on sustainability in the creative industries.
Lacerda also teaches training courses and workshops on sustainable practices in the audiovisual sector, both in academic and professional contexts. Recently, she was a guest lecturer at the residency Green Production – Sustainability in Film and Audiovisual Media at the Baltic Film, Media and Arts School, Tallinn University, Estonia, as well as at the workshop Sustainability in Film and Audiovisual Media at ETIC – School of Technology, Innovation and Creation, in Lisbon.

Target audience
Producers, directors, technicians, students, and other professionals in the cinema and audiovisual sector.

Objective
To empower participants to integrate sustainable practices into their future projects, with real metrics and applicable plans.

Conteúdos
– princípios de Green Production: contexto nacional e internacional (ex.: EcoProd, Albert…);
– fases da sustentabilidade na produção: desenvolvimento, pré-produção, filmagens, pós-produção e distribuição;

Pratical tools
– the “GREEN” Checklist (adapted to the national context) with social, economic, and environmental measures;
– the Sustainability Plan Model;
– the calculation of the audiovisual carbon footprint (a brief introduction to measurement tools such as Carbon Clap);
– mitigation and compensation strategies (real cases);

Group dynamics
– quick development of a mini sustainability plan for a fictional short film to be shot in Serra da Estrela;
– sharing of best practices and discussion/Q&A space (may include a guest with experience in sustainable filming).

Expected Results
– practical training of professionals in the cinema and audiovisual sector;
