DIOGO COELHO
Diogo Coelho is 23 years old, and grew up in Seia. He is a doctoral candidate in Communication Sciences - Contemporary Culture and New Technologies - at NOVA FCSH, where he investigates the relationship between textual practices, the digital medium, and cognitive processes. He completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the same institution, seeking to combine reflection on art and culture with practical work in these fields through initiatives such as Etérea – Digital Art Gallery and filmmaking, participating in film projects as a cinematographer and soundtrack composer.
With a deep appreciation for the Beira region, nature, and culture, he happily returns to his homeland, hoping to give back a little of what it has given him.
JOANA GUERRA TADEU
Joana Guerra Tadeu is a journalist and climate justice activist. With a degree in Communication Sciences and a Master’s in Journalism and Media Studies, she has spent the last decade communicating on environmental issues, politics and social justice.
Joana created and presented Ambientalista Imperfeita on Antena 3 and Verdes Anos on RTP3, radio and tv channels of the Portuguese Public Broadcaster. In 2024, she co-created and directed Ajuda — Um Filme de Ação, a short film made with eight children based on a legend attributed to the Quechua people.
She was Director of the Educational Program at the Santarém International Film Festival in 2025 and 2026, and Director of Communications in 2026.
She is currently part of the leadership team at Don’t Skip Humanity, an independent production company dedicated to media for collective transformation.
MARIANA BÁRTOLO
Mariana Bártolo is a filmmaker, performer and multimedia artist who lives between Germany and Portugal. She finished her studies at KHM - Academy of Media Arts Cologne in 2020. “Seagulls cut through the sky” (2023) co-written and co-directed with Guillermo García López, premiered in Cannes at the Quinzaine des Cinéastes program “Directors Factory, North Portugal”. Her other short-films ”Mansa” (2021) and “Whale Beards” (2021) were screened in several international festivals.
She has been involved in various productions mainly associated with documentary and performance and develops parallel projects in the areas of photography, installation and drawing.
She is currently working on her new experimental documentaries “At the table” and “The loss of the night”.
MÓNICA SANTOS
Mónica Santos is a multifaceted author, recipient of two Sophia Awards from the Portuguese Film Academy, a César nomination from the French Film Academy, and over 70 international distinctions, with selections including Hiroshima, Palm Springs, Clermont-Ferrand, Annecy and Curtas Vila do Conde.
Her work, moving between fiction and animation, reinvents reality through a poetic and surreal gaze, creating worlds that suspend the familiar and expand the visible.
She holds a degree in Sound and Image from the Portuguese Catholic University and a master’s from the Royal College of Art, supported by a Gulbenkian scholarship. She currently works across filmmaking and art direction, and is a member of the Portuguese Film Academy and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She is also a regular juror at national and international festivals.
SOFIA OLIVEIRA
Sofia Oliveira, 17, is a student of Science and Technology at Seia Secondary School. Born in Várzea de Meruge, a rural village, she grew up in close contact with nature and the surrounding territory.
Throughout her journey, she has combined her interest in science with different experiences, having been a federated swimmer, participated in scientific competitions and engaged in volunteer work. In 2022, she won the 7th-grade EQUAmat (PMATe) competition as part of the National Network Science Competitions. At the 30th edition of CineEco, she was also part of the festival’s promotional campaign, an experience that reinforced the importance she places on environmental awareness and the appreciation of nature through cinema. Her connection with nature and its preservation are areas of particular interest to her.
HELLOISA SOARES
Helloisa Santos was born in Brazil and is a Multimedia Technology student at Escola Profissional da Serra da Estrela (EPSE).
She is passionate about film, audiovisual media, and everything that fosters cultural exchange. She believes cinema is a powerful way to connect people, raise awareness, and give voice to different realites.
Serving on the jury of the 32nd CineEco International Environmental Film Festival is an opportunity for learning, cultural exchange, and personal growth.
LÍDIA ARS MELO
She is Brazilian, from Minas Gerais. Throughout her professional career, she has acquired extensive and diverse training and experience in film: as a critic, jury member, curator, and programmer for festivals and film clubs (including environmental film festivals, such as FICA-International Environmental Film and Video Festival/BR; she curated the 2024–2026 Environmental Film Cycles at Cooperativa Rizoma-Lisbon; she has directed films and serves as an evaluator of film projects. She is a founding member of MUTIM-Associação de Mulheres Trabalhadoras das Imagens em Movimento.
She writes film reviews for C7NEMA. She is a Film Green Consultant. Author of: Autoritarismos no Brasil: O olhar de dez realizadoras contemporâneas (2022, OutroModo-LMD/PT) and Do Cinema de Béla Tarr (2019, Ramalhete/BR). Co-editor of the “Brazilian Filmmakers” special issue in the Mistral Journal (University of Groningen). Associate Researcher at CEIS20 and Postdoctoral in Film Studies at UC-PT. She holds a Ph.D. in Film/UFMG-BR and a Master’s degree in Literature/UFRGS-BR.
NUNO BARROS
He is a member of LIPOR’s Communication and Brand Division, leading internal communication strategies and driving, at the same time, Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability initiatives with a focus on people, culture, and ethics.
With a background in Biology, his career centres on environmental education and communication.
Passionate about the emotional power of imagery, he uses it to make environmental topics more accessible and impactful. He has the honor to continue being part of this project that has promoted, over the years, the connection between film culture and environmental values.
PEDRO DIAS DE ALMEIDA
Pedro Dias de Almeida was born in Guarda in 1972. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
He was a cultural journalist for the newsmagazine VISÃO from 1994 to 2025, serving as the Culture Section Editor starting in 2002.
He currently hosts the interview program Memórias Futuras on RTP Antena 2.
He has published the poetry books Introdução à Anatomia das Sereias e Outros Poemas (Aquilo, 2002) and Poemas e Outros Poemas (Ed. Calafrio, 2016).
SAMUEL VIEGAS FIGUEIREDO
Samuel Viegas Figueiredo, originally from Oliveira do Hospital, studies Tourism Accommodation Management at the Escola Superior de Turismo e Hotelaria in Seia. He completed the Professional Tourism Course at EPTOLIVA, where he developed an interest in tourism, culture, and communication.
Throughout his career, he has participated in audiovisual projects, competitions, events, and cultural initiatives, achieving second place in the “Tomorrow Tourism Leaders School Edition” competition. His experience in the hotel industry and contact with different projects have allowed him to develop communication, creativity, organizational, and teamwork skills. He maintains a close connection with Oliveira do Hospital and Seia, seeking to value the territories, culture, and experiences that bring people closer to places.
CÂNDIDA JESUS MIRANDA CARDOSO
Cândida Jesus Miranda Cardoso is 16 years old and lives in Arrifana, Seia. She is studying Science and Technology at Seia Secondary School.
She has participated in voluntary initiatives, such as the food bank and nature and forest activities organized by the IPDJ. She is also a member of PENAS, an environmental education project for young people run by CERVAS (Centre for Ecology, Recovery and Monitoring of Wild Animals) in Gouveia.
She has been practising Shotokan karate for nine years and has recently taken up Jiu-Jitsu as well. She loves outdoor activities, such as camping and hiking in nature.
She has a particular interest in biology and sports medicine and believes that physical activity combined with spending time in nature is essential for a healthy and fulfilling life.
ANTÓNIO JOÃO MARQUES ALVES
Born in Lapa de Tourais, a small village in the Municipality of Seia, 64 years ago. He attended the first levels of education here, later entering the University of Porto where he graduated in Dentistry.
He returned to Seia forty-one years ago to practice as a dentist, together with his wife and colleague, and continues to do so to this day.
His interest in associativism stems from his university days, when he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Students' Association of the Escola Superior de Medicina Dentária. Later, he was a member of the governing bodies of the Professional Association of Dentists and, subsequently, of the Order of Dentists, in different positions and at different times, until 2020.
In Seia, he noticed the existence of several associations and institutions that shared common goals: to help create a more enlightened, empowered and inclusive society. From this journey in the area of associativism came the connection with the Governing Bodies of some institutions and associations in the region. He is still a member of the governing bodies of some of them, most notably the Associação de Beneficência Social e Cultural de Tourais, the “URZE: Associação Florestal da Encosta da Serra da Estrela”, and the Associação Humanitária dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Seia.
He was a member of the Tourais Parish Assembly from 2002 to 2005.
He is a Municipal Councillor for Gender Equality.
He was honored for his professional activity by the Rotary Club of Seia in 2024 and awarded the “Municipal Bell of Merit and Dedication” by the Municipality of Seia in 2025.
Reading and cinema are two of the hobbies he has enjoyed since his youth. Environmental causes and active citizenship are a constant presence in his life.
LUCAS TAVARES
Lucas Tavares (1995, Rio de Janeiro) is a transdisciplinary artist, working with documentary practices in different formats, including film, video, installation, sound pieces, performances, books, etc. with a degree in film and audiovisual arts from ESAP, a specialization in film and visual culture from FLUP, and a master's degree in film from UBI.
In film area, he directed “Dona Carmélia,” which premiered at DocLisboa, “Cores de Outono”, which premiered at Curtas Vila do Conde, winning the award for best direction.
Part of the Collective à escuta, based in Serra da Estrela, which has resulted in projects such as CasaFloresta (2022), Folha Volante (part of Odisseia Nacional, 2023), comunidade: floresta (2025), and Partes Extra Partes (2025).
No cinema, realizou “Dona Carmélia”, que estreou no DocLisboa, “Cores de Outono”, que estreou no Curtas Vila do Conde, com prémio de melhor realização.
MARIA JOÃO CORTESÃO
Lecturer at the Faculty of Media, Arts and Design, Technical University of Porto. She holds a PhD in Information Sciences, specialising in Advertising Communication.
Her research focuses on the relationship between advertising and cinema and on the analysis of filmic and photographic discourse.
She is a full member of the Research Unit in Design, Art, Media and Culture (ID+) and a guest member of the Research Unit in the Arts (iA+).
She teaches in the areas of cinematographic and audiovisual production, communication and advertising.
She sits on the Scientific Committee of the International Conference Cinema and the Other Arts and regularly participates as a speaker and moderator at the Avanca Festival and at this conference.
She has served on juries for the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (ICA), at festivals such as MIFEC, FEST and BGREEN, and for all four editions of the Lumicroma international photography competition.
Producer of Images of the Imagined Real – Photography, Cinema and Multimedia Cycle and President of the Portuguese Federation of Film and Audiovisual Schools (FECA).
SHELTON MAMUDE
Shelton Mamudo is Mozambican with a strong interest in cinema, culture and social development.
He has been involved in initiatives that promote the arts, communication, and the use of film as a tool for education, critical reflection, and social transformation. His work emphasizes intercultural dialogue, sustainability, and the impact of audiovisual storytelling on communities.
As a jury member of the 32nd CineEco – International Environmental Film Festival 2026, he brings an African perspective and a commitment to diversity, inclusion and the appreciation of stories that foster environmental awareness and human values.
CAMILA MARTINS
She has a degree in Psychology and is studying for a Masters in Clinical Psychology and Adult Psychotherapy at the University of Minho. She has a keen interest in cinema, including in the context of social and environmental issues, and believes in the importance of audiovisuals as a tool for raising awareness. She believes that cinema can influence the way people perceive social, cultural and ecological issues. He is also interested in understanding the emotional impacts of environmental change, as well as other issues linked to human well-being.
FRANCISCA MARTINS
Francisca Martins, 15, lives in Seia. She is in the 11th grade studying Science and Technology. She is very interested in topics such as animal conservation, fashion and different forms of expression, such as cinema. She considers cinema to be one of the most impactful forms of art, allowing for both reflection and creativity.
He is also interested in visual aesthetics, seeing it as a powerful means of expression.
GIL MARQUES
Gil Marques is 22 years old and was born in France. He is currently studying Tourism and Leisure at the Escola Superior de Turismo e Hotelaria, Instituto Politécnico da Guarda.
He has been aware of environmental causes since he was a child and is currently doing his internship at the Serra da Estrela Interpretation Center (CISE).
HUGO LUÍS
Hugo Alexandre Marques Luís was born in Vide, is 17 years old and attends the 12th year of the Science and Technology course at Seia Secondary School. He has always been a sports fan and is currently playing soccer for Seia Futebol Clube. He likes video games, movies and hanging out with friends. Having grown up in a rural area, next to the river and forests, so close to nature, environmental causes have always been close to his heart, having already taken part in reforestation campaigns after the 2017 fires. He remembers attending CineEco as a child.
MARIA LUÍSA
Maria Luísa Neto Rodrigues, 16, is from Bragança, but lives in Seia, where she is in the 12th year of the Socio-Economic Sciences course at Seia Secondary School. Passionate about figure skating, a sport she's been involved in for seven years, she also loves hiking in the Serra da Estrela whenever she gets the chance.
MARIANA MARTINS
Mariana Martins is a student on the Visual Arts Scientific course at Seia Secondary School. Ever since she was little, she has valued the world of art, especially in the areas of theater and singing, where she is currently training. She attended the Seia Conservatory of Music from the age of seven, and aspires to train in theater, following her dream of musical theater. In addition to her artistic side, she also enjoys writing and composing.
