The CinEco extensions bring environmental cinema to different audiences and territories, promoting ecological awareness, inclusion and access to culture, affirming the Festival’s commitment to environmental education and social change.

Extension

What are the CineEco Extensions?

In addition to its official program in Seia, CineEco continues throughout the year with its national and international extensions. These decentralized sessions take the best of environmental cinema to schools, associations, cultural centers and partner festivals, raising awareness of ecological issues among different audiences and territories.

A commitment that is reaffirmed every year.

The CineEco extensions affirm the commitment renewed annually between the festival and the entities that apply, reinforcing the festival’s role in environmental education, inclusion and democratizing access to culture, as an active agent of social and ecological change.

O CineEco chega ao Agrupamento João da Silva Correia! Numa parceria entre o Plano Nacional de Cinema, Eco-Escolas e Clube Ciência em Ação, celebramos a Semana da Terra, o Desenvolvimento Sustentável e a Cidadania. Inspire-se e inspire os alunos a pensar, sentir e agir, pelo planeta! 

Em 2026 realiza 10 sessões com exibição de 20 filmes.

É uma extensão CineEco desde 2022.

O Município de Oliveira do Hospital promove há quase duas décadas a extensão do CineEco – Festival Internacional de Cinema Ambiental da Serra da Estrela – reconhecendo a sua importância enquanto único festival sobre a temática ambiental em Portugal, ao mesmo tempo que promove e divulga obras cinematográficas de uma importância ímpar e que de outra forma não chegariam até nós de uma forma tão simples. Por outro lado, no âmbito da Competição Panorama Regional, o reconhecimento de realizadores locais e a divulgação das suas obras tem, no seio da nossa extensão, uma importância especial, indo ao encontro de públicos de várias gerações, estando, por isso, a extensão de Oliveira do Hospital dividida em três secções – público sénior, infanto juvenil e geral.

Neste ano irá realizar a exibição de 16 filmes tendo como público alvo: público sénior, infanto juvenil e público em geral.

Aderno

September 24 and 25, 2026

Extensão Aderno is dedicated to an intergenerational audience of children, young people and seniors, promoting joint reflection on the relationship with the environment, landscape and memory.

With 17 films selected, there will be a screening entitled “Landscape and Memory” and another entitled “We Are Nature”, both at the Cineteatro Messias.

Aderno is a cultural association based in Luso-Bussaco, with a focus on environmental and social sustainability.

Cine-Clube da Ilha Terceira and Museu Francisco Lacerda

Since 2013, the Terceira Island Film Club (CCIT) has been promoting the expansion of Cine’Eco in the Azores. This year, on the island of São Jorge, the Francisco Lacerda Museum joins the organization. With 6 organized sessions, the 12 selected films will be screened at the Museum.

Cine-Clube Ilha Terceira and Atlântida Cine

Since 2013, the Terceira Island Film Club (CCIT) has been promoting the expansion of Cine’Eco in the Azores. This year, on the island of Santa Maria, the Santa Maria Museum – Atlântida Cine joins the organization. With 6 organized sessions, the 12 selected films will be screened at the Museum.

Cine-Clube Ilha Terceira and EcoMuseu do Corvo

Since 2013, the Terceira Island Film Club (CCIT) has been promoting the expansion of Cine’Eco in the Azores. This year, on Corvo Island, the Corvo EcoMuseum joins the organization. With 6 organized sessions, the 12 selected films will be shown at the Multipurpose Pavilion, the Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Corvo, and the Casa do Tempo.

CATAA- Centro de Apoio Tecnológico Agroalimentar

16 de abril; 14 de maio; 18 de junho e 25 de junho de 2026

A extensão CineEco, promovida pelo CATAA – Centro de Apoio Tecnológico Agroalimentar, consiste num ciclo de cinco sessões dirigido a turmas do 3.º, 6.º, 8.º e 10.º anos de escolaridade, com o objetivo de sensibilizar os alunos para as questões ambientais através do cinema. As atividades decorrerão na Escola Cidade de Castelo Branco, Escola Faria de Vasconcelos, Escola sede do Agrupamento Afonso Paiva, Escola Básica da Mina e na Fábrica da Criatividade, promovendo momentos de reflexão e aprendizagem em torno da sustentabilidade e da preservação do ambiente.

Agrupamento de Escolas de Gouveia – 17 til 21 of march

As a group, it will make its debut in 2024 as an extension of CineEco. It selected and screened 15 films and reports having reached 470 students, aged 10 to 17.

CineClube do Faial – 9 e 10 de dezembro

The event consisted of two days of screenings at two schools on the island. The initiative involved 105 students, 4 teachers from the Horta Professional School and the Manuel de Arriaga Secondary School, and representatives from the Faial Film Club, the Fazendo Cultural Association, and the Parish Council.

Agrupamento de Escolas Oliveira do Hospital – 3 a 4 de abril

CineEco extension since 2023. In 2024, it screened four animated films and three documentaries, reaching around 100 students aged 13 to 17.

LIPOR / Casa do Corim – 22 til 24 of mayof may til 24 maio

This CineEco extension dates back to 2018 and renews its partnership for the 2024 edition, involving around 250 people.

It held a total of 7 sessions, broadcasting 14 CineEco films.

LIPOR / Bioblitz – 31 março a 3 de abril

This CineEco extension begins in 2021 and renews its partnership in the 2024 edition, covering around 320 people, including students and families.

A total of 16 sessions were held, with 18 films from CineEco being screened.

The extension for Schools took place from 31 March to 1 April. The extension for Families took place from 2 to 3 April.

CineEco extension since 2022. In 2024 it screened 3 films, reaching an estimated 100 students aged 8 to 18.
