The film tells the story of Curt Unckel, a social scientist who lived with indigenous peoples for 40 years. Curt was baptized in 1906 by the Guarani as Nimuendajú, and dedicated his life to studying and understanding different cultures. He witnessed the persecution and expulsion of indigenous peoples from their lands.

Tânia Anaya is known for her work in “Nimuendaju” (2025), “Castelos de Vento” (1999), and “Swinging in the Seesaw” (1994). Tania Anaya holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Fine Arts from the School of Fine Arts at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. She also graduated in Animation from the Minas Gerais Animation Centre, a programme established through a technical cooperation initiative between Brazil and Canada (involving the Brazilian Film Foundation, the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), the Minas Gerais State Department of Culture and Rede Minas). Her practice focuses on drawing and audiovisual media. She has directed several short films, animated vignettes, promotional videos and documentaries. Her debut feature film “Nimuendajú”, a co-production with Peru’s Apus Studio, premiered at the prestigious 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival. She is currently co-producing and co-directing the animated feature “O Filho da Puta” with Otto Desenhos, while also developing the stop-motion animated series “Palmeiras do Alto”. She is a partner at Anaya Produções, based in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais.
