Emil Nørgaard Munk is a Danish documentary filmmaker and photographer whose work explores the intersection of ethnography and hybrid documentary forms. He holds a Master’s degree in Film Studies and Visual Anthropology from the University of Copenhagen. In 2020, he was selected as a Berlinale Talent, and in 2022, he became an IDFAcademy alumnus. Munk’s films often delve into themes of identity, human rights, and the supernatural, reflecting his background in multispecies ethnography and his interest in non-human entities. His musical background also brings a distinctive rhythm and musicality to his filmmaking process. Munk’s dedication to blending ethnographic research with innovative storytelling techniques has established him as a distinctive voice in contemporary documentary cinema.
