Real Swan Rebellion is a collection of animated poems from Lucia Misch’s The Problem With Solitaire. Through moving imagery, the film explores environmental crisis, creature intuition, the labours of grief, and a falcon’s cry across changing landscapes.

Nastenka Alava Calle is an Ecuadorian-Canadian animator and visual artist based on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. She holds a Bachelor of Media Arts from Emily Carr University, specializing in 2D and experimental animation, and completed UBC’s Biomedical Visualization and Communication Program. Her work explores healing, fantasy, and the human relationship with nature. Her thesis film “Dawn” (2021) was officially selected by four festivals and received “Best Short Animation” at the 2022 Latino and Native Film Festival. She currently works as a freelance scientific/biomedical illustrator and animator focused on wildlife conservation.

Lucia Misch is a writer, performer and facilitator from the unceded Muwekma Ohlone land. Lucia’s work as a spoken word artist has found a home everywhere from historic theatres to house shows, and their first collection of poetry, The Problem With Solitaire, was released by Write Bloody North in 2020.
