Filmmaker Details: Irida Zhonga

Irida Zhonga is an award winning director and producer whose artistic expertise lies in mixed media, 2D and stop motion animation. She graduated from University of the Arts London with a degree in Film and Television and completed her MA in Film and Contemporary AV Media at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. She has been working in Greece, UK and the Netherlands for over 10 years and her work has been screened and awarded at many international film festivals such as Kaboom, Anibar, Drama International Film Festival and TIFF (among others). In July 2019 she was awarded the Artist Fellowship by the Stavros Niarchos foundation, in July 2020 she won a scholarship from ASIFA – Hollywood whereas in 2022 she received a grant from the Women in Animation (WIA) organisation. In April 2023 she became the Vice President of ASIFA-Hellas. She is a regular invited speaker at film festivals and universities (Panteios, University of Cologne, University of Tubingen, etc) and served as a programme curator for the animation festival ‘Framed’ in the Netherlands (2020-2023).
